The habour project is now in a critical state. The canarian governement is displaying the plans in front of the European Commission in Brussel.
The Spanish Eurodeputy of the Green Hammerstein argues the European Commission has remitted data not only on the “environmental impact” but also with respect to the “utility of the construction” of
the port.
Hammerstein enumerated the arguments in which this refusal on the part of the Green is based, as: the environmental impact of the port of Granadilla; the strong winds that complicate the maneuvers;
and the existence of works to expand the port of Santa Cruz that would be able to absorb the demand, among others.
