nopuerto 2005

Please support the rally against the habour on June 5th 2005 at noon at the surfing beach in El Medano / Tenerife. Come with black bags.

This rally was supported by an impressing number of about 3000 people illustrating an oil pest on the beach of El Medano.

On the 6th of July 2005 an accident on the electricity farm behind Monte Pelarga was like a writing on the wall. The pictures were taken after the first much darker cloud (explosion?) shattered the sky over El Medano.

The habour project is now in a critical state. The canarian governement is displaying the plans in front of the European Commission in Brussel.

The Spanish Eurodeputy of the Green Hammerstein argues the European Commission has remitted data not only on the “environmental impact” but also with respect to the “utility of the construction” of the port.

Hammerstein enumerated the arguments in which this refusal on the part of the Green is based, as: the environmental impact of the port of Granadilla; the strong winds that complicate the maneuvers; and the existence of works to expand the port of Santa Cruz that would be able to absorb the demand, among others.
