Meristacrum asterospermum

Meristacrum asterospermum DRECHSLER 1940

Genus: Meristacrum DRECHSLER 1940
Family: Entomophthoraceae
Order: Entomophthorales
Class: Zygomycetes
Division: Eumycota

(System)

No sexual reproduction of Meristacrum asterospermum has been observed, but the irregularly septate mycelium shows its identity as Zygomycete. The host nematodes are infected by adhesive spores. Resting spores are developed inside the host, whereas the fungus develops small conidia on long conidiophores growing far out of the nematode's body for spreading.
